Dixie Dean Family Celebrate As Work Begins on New Hotel Site

The family of Dixie Dean recently visited the site of the new Dixie Dean Hotel to lay the first brick and kick start construction work.

Dedicated to the legendary Everton footballer, the luxury hotel will be a tribute to the great Dixie Dean, a footballer who famously scored an outstanding 60 goals in the 1927-28 league season.

Dixie?s daughter, Barbara Dean, along with his grand daughter Melanie Prentice and great grandchildren Daniel and Scarlett Prentice visited the Gothic Jerome and Carlisle buildings on Victoria Street in Liverpool to oversee the first steps of construction.

The family of one of the greatest goalscorers in English football history, they were thrilled to be part of such an amazing tribute to Dixie.

A joint venture with Lawrence Kenwright?s Signature Living and the Dean family, the 65,000 sq ft project is set to become a luxurious football themed hotel.

The luxurious 100 bedroom hotel will offer guests a unique, football themed experience, featuring restaurants, bars and an events space for weddings. There will also be a dedicated museum to Dixie Dean, housing never-seen-before memorabilia and trinkets from the footballing legend?s career.

Dixie Dean?s daughter Barbara was over the moon that work had begun; ?We were thrilled and honoured to be asked by Lawrence to become part of this exciting project.

?It will be an amazing experience to see the legacy of my dad and his achievements with the football club he loved so much enshrined for so many football fans to enjoy.

?The friendship between my dad and Bill Shankly was remarkable. Despite their fierce club loyalty and rivalry, they were the closest and best of friends.

?If my dad were alive today he would be so proud that his achievements and his legacy will be celebrated in his way.?

Lawrence added; ?Our goal was always to build two iconic hotels that would leave a lasting legacy to Everton and Liverpool football clubs.

?What made this even more unique was not only the locations of each hotel being across the road from each other – but that we had the full support and blessing of Dixie?s family. Without that we would not have been able to do justice to the project.?

It will sit across the road from the famous Shankly Hotel, with hopes that the two hotels will create the world?s first Football Quarter. Featuring statues of footballing greats in-between the Everton and Liverpool Football Club themed developments.

Both Dixie Dean and Bill Shankly were lifelong friends despite the rivalry of their respective teams. It is the first time that any city in the world has had two themed football hotels conceived to celebrate the achievements of such footballing greats.

Legendary Liverpool Manager Bill Shankly described Dixie as; ?The greatest centre forward there will ever be. His record of goalscoring is the most amazing thing under the sun. He belongs in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Shakespeare and Rembrandt.?

One of the most exciting developments in the city, the Dixie Dean Hotel will create a further 150 jobs within the hotel and another 100 jobs locally. The introduction of the Football Quarter will give the city a vital boost in the tourism and hospitality sector, as well as creating an amazing experience for football fans and the people of Liverpool.
