What to Look Forward to at the Dixie Dean Hotel this Summer

A new year and plenty to look forward to in 2018 for Signature Living as we welcome yet another luxury football hotel in Liverpool into the fold.

Pioneering the way for the worlds first ever football quarter Signature Living will be introducing another football themed hotel, this time based on the marvellous career and life of none other than Dixie Dean.

This one of a kind footballing talent will inspire another great luxury football hotel in Liverpool that will focus on providing fabulous family experiences as well as promoting the great sport of football and Liverpool’s outstanding contributions to the game.

Worlds first football quarter

Liverpool’s footballing heritage brings millions of visitors to the city each year a combination of fans of the cities two rival football clubs, Everton FC and Liverpool FC.

The match day atmosphere in any of Liverpool’s sports bars and either of the team grounds is unrivalled the world over.

Since 1962 Liverpool and Everton have come together in many on pitch clashes demonstrating the one thing that makes Merseyside football wonderful; that is the attitude of the fans.

Widely referred to as the “friendly derby” Liverpool and Everton fans would often blend together, unsegregated in the stands. Members of one family could easily support opposite teams and still uphold a friendly camaraderie regardless of the matches outcome.

Twenty-seven league titles have been won between the two clubs making Liverpool England’s most successful footballing city.

Everton was among the original twelve founding clubs of the football league itself.

It, therefore, seems only right that Liverpool should be the first city to pioneer a football quarter in celebration of the great game and those who play it.

Regenerating Victoria Street

Because of its layout and easy access to the best cultural attractions, Liverpool is incredibly visitor friendly. The entire city can be seen on foot with all the most popular landmarks not far from the city centre.

To help navigate Liverpool the individual areas of the city have been split into quarters, each offering something different to residents and visitors alike.

Victoria Street falls between the Cavern quarter and what is known as the Creative quarter and is home to some of Liverpool most well established bars and restaurants.

Over the past few years, new business developments have seen the focus shift from Victoria Street onto the trendy Ropewalks or Hope Street areas based in the Cathedral quarter.

In the summer of 2018, the opening of The Dixie Dean Hotel will bring the focus back to Victoria Street reviving the once popular area for the foreseeable future.

Dixie Dean Hotel

Not only will The Dixie Dean Hotel welcome guests to Victoria Street but plans for the physical outlook of the building itself promises to transform the area making it more pleasing to the eyes of visitors and residents alike.

Rows of green trees decorated with nightlights will mimic those in St. Johns Gardens illuminating the area.

Each luxury Liverpool football-themed hotel will feature grand canopies making them stand apart from the surrounding buildings and will further promote the footballing heritage and their namesakes.

In 2018 Signature Living will look forward to improving a part of the city that has been over shadowed in recent years with a new, state of the art, football hotel in Liverpool.

Everton Brow Tower

To make The Dixie Dean Hotel synonymous with Everton Football Club, Signature Living designers have plans to cleverly incorporate a part of the team crest into the building’s facade.

The Everton Brow Tower or Prince Rupert’s Castle, sits proudly on a hill in Everton and was once a place to lock up troublesome folk late in the 16th century.

The nickname Prince Rupert’s Castle was given to the lock up as the ground in which it resides served as the battle camp for Prince Rupert’s Royalist Army over a century before it was built. The structure became a part of the Everton football club crest in 1938 and has since been renovated after the team donated £15,000 in 1997.

Now those seeking out the tower shouldn’t have too much trouble as has been permanently illuminated in blue since 2014 and the friends of Everton Park have included it on their heritage trail.

Plans for The Dixie Dean Hotel include turning one of the front facing gothic turrets of the Jerome and Carlisle Buildings into a representation of the Everton Brow Tower.

This fantastic feature will instantly distinguish the hotel’s Evertonian heritage from that of the adjacent Shankly Hotel and its LFC heritage.

The two hotels will no doubt become a focal point of future Merseyside derby’s in the city.

Thanks to the good humour between rival team fans, the hotels will not promote competitiveness and instead will encourage a healthy respect for Merseyside football and for those who dedicated their lives to the game.

Dixie Dean family

The success of The Shankly Hotel has been astounding and this is thanks to the friendly relationship Signature Living developed with members of The Shankly family and their continued presence within the company.

Chris Carline, the director of The Shankly Hotel and Bill Shankly’s grandson, has been with the development from the start. He and his families input has made it so that every guest can explore the life and career of Bill Shankly from a unique and personal perspective.

This same partnership has been adopted with the Dean family and we are confident that their input and continued involvement with the project will ensure The Dixie Dean Hotel sees the same success as The Shankly.

Each luxury football hotel in Liverpool will form the start of the world’s first football quarter, an area devoted to sporting legends of the past and a place to enjoy the future of football.

Football walk of fame

Both Shankly and Dean are icons of football whose names resonate throughout the history of the sport.

Not only celebrated and honoured within their team’s respective cities, both Shankly and Dean also made names for themselves in the history pages of football thanks to their indeterminable skill on the pitch and their individual characters off the pitch.

Dixie himself holds the record for most goals scored in a single league season and Shankly was at the helm of Liverpool when they became the first English team to win both league title and European trophy in one season.

Shankly and Dean became good friends in their retirement, sharing a friendly lunch before watching a Merseyside derby together. Their respect for each other was well known with Shankly dubbing Dean ‘the greatest centre-forward there will ever be’ and likening him to ‘Beethoven, Shakespeare and Rembrandt’ for the mastery of his skill.

The Football walk of fame will include bronzed statues of the two footballing greats which will stand outside The Shankly Hotel.

Victoria Street will soon be a place where football fans from across the globe can come together to appreciate Liverpool’s contribution to the game of football as well as honour two of the game’s most notable heroes.

Popular Shankly Hotel

Since 2014 The Shankly Hotel has welcomed guests from all walks of life through its doors.

Football fan or not, The Shankly Hotel is a luxury Liverpool football-themed hotel to offer something for every type of guest.

The perfect family hotel in Liverpool, The Shankly boasts excellent on-site amenities such as The Bastion Bar and Restaurant as well as secure city centre parking and superb family suites.

The Shankly Museum has an amazing collection of rare Bill Shankly memorabilia which has been kindly sourced by the Shankly family and gives an insight into the life and legend of the man himself.

Guests and non-guests can even book to take a Shankly Experience tour which encompasses sightseeing trips around Liverpool’s most famous landmarks and famous footballing sights including the West Derby home of Bill Shankly.

Not just a hotel there are two fabulous Liverpool weddings and events venues inside The Shankly Hotel, Baby Eden and the rooftop Garden of Eden which are both equally suited to hosting special events, parties and wonderful city centre weddings.

Everything that makes The Shankly Hotel special and unique will be adopted by The Dixie Dean Hotel simply tailored instead to another legend of Liverpool football.

The Dixie Dean Hotel

Looking forward to the future, Signature Living is excited to pioneer the first football quarter and for two of Merseyside’s biggest footballing legends to be at the heart of it all.

Guests of The Dixie Dean Hotel can expect nothing but a fabulous luxury experience from our new football hotel in Liverpool with the extra added bonus of learning more about one of Liverpool’s most revered footballing talents.
